May is one of my favourite months to recommend. Italy, Greece and Croatia are warm, green and still uncrowded, with the sea warm enough to swim in without the July crush. It's an ideal window for Arizona's canyons too, before summer heat makes midday hikes miserable, and a strong month for British Columbia as the mountains properly open up for the season.
