6-Day Puglia Itinerary: Whitewashed Towns, Coastal Views & Italian Food

Day 1 - Bari
Arrive in Bari and check in to your hotel. Spend the afternoon exploring Bari Vecchia, wandering through its narrow streets and visiting the Basilica of San Nicola. Stop for focaccia barese during the day, then enjoy a traditional seafood dinner before your first night in Puglia.
Polignano a Mare & Alberobello
Breakfast, take a day trip from Bari to Polignano a Mare. Explore its dramatic coastline and charming historic centre before continuing to Alberobello to see its famous trulli houses. Enjoy a relaxed lunch along the way before returning to Bari for dinner.
Day 3 - Ostuni
Check out after breakfast and drive towards Ostuni. Visit the White City and explore its beautiful historic centre, then enjoy lunch surrounded by olive groves and countryside. Check into your hotel in Ostuni and spend the evening enjoying the town's restaurants and atmosphere.
Day 4 - Matera
Breakfast, take a day trip from Ostuni to Matera in neighbouring Basilicata. Explore the spectacular Sassi, ancient cave dwellings and winding streets carved into the rock. Stop for lunch in the historic centre before returning to Ostuni for a relaxed evening and dinner.
Day 5 - Lecce
After breakfast, check out and continue south to Lecce. Spend the day exploring the city's impressive Baroque architecture, including Piazza del Duomo, Basilica di Santa Croce and Piazza Sant'Oronzo. Enjoy a traditional Salento lunch before checking into your hotel and spending the evening exploring Lecce's atmospheric streets.
Day 6 - Lecce & Departure
Enjoy breakfast in Lecce before spending your final morning at a relaxed pace. Pick up some local souvenirs, enjoy a final Italian coffee and perhaps try a pasticciotto, one of Lecce's specialties. Depending on your departure time, take one last walk through the historic centre before heading to the airport or station.
